In 1996 I graduated from Carnegie Mellon University with a BFA in Painting. I was 49yrs old and ready to start an exciting art career. That was 10 yrs ago. I have had a lengthy illness and have not painted. Im back to give it another try. Please watch my return as I will take awkward baby steps,every day, until the passion, skill and love returns. Thank you family and friends for your patience...
This is also a painting I did around 1994 and to the right is the photo I used. This is a study in character. I feel it shows a strong sense of definition in the eyes and painterly quality to the hair around the face. This oil painting is 20" by 24".

After a ten year break from painting, I have decided it is time to return. I had Cushings Disease which only occurs in one in a million people. It took away strength, passion and ability to pursue my painting. My goal is to post something art related every day or two. My love is figure, portraits and abstracts. Having seen others who blog and paint has inspired me. I want to regain what I have lost. I may trip and fall, but its like learning to walk again. I have to start somewhere. i am in the process of doing a large portrait but "i am a thorn in my family and friends sides" as i have not done ANYTHING for a long time....i am trying real hard to get the feeling and the passion back after so long....i used a lot of energy i had on an illness BUT, this blog is to start a new, fresh, way of painting and it is helping watching people like you and your dad paint daily. ....i have it, just hope it comes back....stop by and push me to paint anytime...I NEED THAT !!...maybe a blog intervention. Leaving tomorrow for Maine for a fun time and will return the 10th.........jason, check my main blog and look at some of my old work.....
