In 1996 I graduated from Carnegie Mellon University with a BFA in Painting. I was 49yrs old and ready to start an exciting art career. That was 10 yrs ago. I have had a lengthy illness and have not painted. Im back to give it another try. Please watch my return as I will take awkward baby steps,every day, until the passion, skill and love returns. I painted this two years ago and it is the "only" painting I have done since 1996. This is my grand daughter Ella. When you "decide" to paint without practice the results are acceptable, but to my eye, I know I can do better. Someday I hope to do a full portrait of Ella with the skill and intensity I would like. Again, this was done quickly. I make no apologies, I am just speaking the truth.

After a ten year break from painting, I have decided it is time to return. I had Cushings Disease which only occurs in one in a million people. It took away strength, passion and ability to pursue my painting. My goal is to post something art related every day or two. My love is figure, portraits and abstracts. Having seen others who blog and paint has inspired me. I want to regain what I have lost. I may trip and fall, but its like learning to walk again. I have to start somewhere. the world seems right as a grandparent doesn't it!!! No matter how life seems to have gone, it just seems to have been worth living thru it all to experience being a grandparent!! neat tribute...

....life does take twists and turns, but you are right....holding a precious little girl, who just happens to be youre granddaughter, lifts all the troubles away. Last I saw her,i said "Ella, i will have to leave in a few days and i will miss you so"....she looked at me and with all her innocent wisdom said "but you are here NOW"....and that taught me a lesson. Live in the present like they do...........
